My Thoughts:

While reading 13 Ways to Midnight book one I did get intrigued every now and then by things that weren’t focused on a whole lot such as the ‘folklore’ lingering in Port Royal forest. Like the black buck and the God of Death. This novel is very comparable to Twilight. I know a lot of people don’t like Twilight but I enjoyed the books so I didn’t mind this too much. Luna had that spunky, eccentric aunt vibe that I love. She’s a character I could definitely hit it off with! I like the fact that there are several different kinds of paranormal ‘creatures’ involved. Some of you may begin to feel mislead because you are probably assuming Echo will spend the majority of her time searching for her twin sister, Midnight. What I didn’t realize was there will be 13 books in this series. Keep that in mind. It’s definitely one I plan on continuing, although a bit predictable. After Midnight goes missing, Echo begins her own journey in Port Royal. There she makes many friends and some enemies. She discovers things about the sunless town, herself, her family, and others. Things that aren’t scientifically plausible. I’m very interested in seeing how Echo wraps her head around everything that’s becoming reality.

You’ll never miss the sunlight until It’s gone.

My Thoughts: 

Janell Rhiannon tweeted me wishing me luck on a giveaway I had entered. I assumed she’s an author, since the giveaway was book related. I clicked on her profile and was right. Seeing one of her series contained Greek mythology, I had to grab a free copy. It sounded right up my alley and I really enjoyed it! I liked Achilles. He has always been my favorite character along side Chiron. Some of the longer names were difficult for me to pronounce, so I shortened them giving them nicknames. The style itself was an easy read (although, I caught several typos). From alliances to betrayals and prophecies we make our way towards the Trojan war told from a variety of viewpoints. This novel was very action-packed – something I love! I am looking forward to reading the second one now.
